Dr. Sapna Mehta is the Director of Transplant Infectious Diseases at the NYU Langone Transplant Institute and Associate Professor of Medicine at NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Mehta received her MD from Baylor College of Medicine in 2003 where she also completed her Internal Medicine residency. She completed her infectious diseases fellowship at NYU in 2009 and then joined the faculty at that time prior to relocating to Houston in 2012. In Houston, Dr. Mehta’s clinical work included care for transplant patients at both Baylor –St Luke’s Hospital and Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. She returned to NYU in 2017 to build the Transplant Institute’s Infectious Diseases clinical, education and research services. Dr. Mehta has a particular interest in improving awareness around transplant options for people living with HIV in the New York region. She is NYU’s site investigator for the multi-center HOPE In Action study and is developing NYU’s new living donor program for HIV-positive donors.
At the completion of this educational session, learners will:
- Understand the ongoing and growing need for transplantation among people living with HIV.
- Be aware of the current transplantation options for patients living with HIV.
- Appreciate the low utilization of living donor transplantation among patients living with HIV and strategies to address barriers to this option.
This CME activity has approved for
AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ on May 21, 2019 and will terminate May 20, 2022.
The target audience is all physicians, NPs and PAs involved or interested in HIV education.
This online video and post-activity evaluation are one hour in length.
