Dr. Sarah Braunstein oversees New York City’s response to the HIV epidemic and serves as the Bureau’s Director of HIV Epidemiology, leading and providing scientific direction to a large program with a wide-ranging portfolio of HIV epidemiology and research projects. She oversees the collection, management, analysis, and dissemination of data from New York City’s HIV surveillance registry; HIV partner services, linkage to care, and care reengagement for people with diagnosed HIV and their partners; and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-sponsored and other HIV clinical, behavioral, and health disparities-focused research. Dr. Braunstein has extensive background and training in epidemiologic methods and implementation science, having conducted domestic and international clinical studies and epidemiologic research on the prevention and epidemiology of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections for over 20 years.

1. Understand the foundations of HIV surveillance and the status of the HIV epidemic in New York City.
2. Learn about the intersection between HIV and COVID-19 in the New York City population.
3. Understand the growing evidence base related to higher risk for adverse COVID-19-related outcomes among people with HIV.

This CME activity has approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for April 14, 2021 as a live activity.  This activity will also be available as an enduring activity from April 15, 2021, through April 13, 2024.

The target audience is all physicians, NPs and PAs involved or interested in HIV education.
